Changing the Bass Note(Music term: The root of a chord is the note the chord is named after. For example, in a C#m ("C-sharp minor") chord, the note C# is the root.) Usually, when a chord is played, it is played along with a single low note called the bass note. When ChordSong plays chords for you, it plays them this way. Normally, the note we use for the bass note is the root of the chord. So when ChordSong plays a C#m chord, it normally plays a C# note as the bass note. But sometimes, we want a different note played as the bass note. For example, we might want to play a C#m chord, but with an E as the bass note rather than a C#. There is a way to write this in the chord symbol: C#/E ("C-sharp over E"). ChordSong lets you pick a non-root bass note to play with a chord. Follow these steps: Place the cursor on the beat in your song where you want to set the bass note. Open the Bass Note window via the Chord > Bass Note menu command. Click the bass note you want. The chord symbol at the cursor position changes to include your chosen bass note. |
